Why should you know the causes of bleeding hemorrhoids? If you suffer from this condition, you are sure to want to do everything within your power to relieve the pain, itching, and irritation as quickly as possible. Who wants to be uncomfortable in their own body all the time? A major part of alleviating discomfort is to know what is causing it. When we know that, we can take immediate steps to address our symptoms and to prevent them from flaring up again.

Luckily, most of the causes of this condition can be easily avoided if take proactive steps. One of the best things you can do for your body, and to prevent this particular condition, is to get regular physical activity. Not only that, people who engage in exercise tend to heal from the condition much more quickly than those who do not. Exercise may be the last thing on your mind when you’re dealing with pain, irritating, itching, and burning – but it should be the first. Exercise helps improve circulation so that essential nutrients are delivered to each cell. Improved nutrient delivery strengthens the veins in the rectal and anal regions and also reduces inflammation.

Exercise reduces pressure on the veins, which is the cause of this condition, and also helps you lose weight. Being overweight is a big risk factor because of the excess pressure and strain on the veins. Strong muscles provide support, and studies show that those with toned, flexible muscles experience this condition far less often than those who do not. At the very least, walking for twenty minutes each day will benefit your body. Other great exercises include: aerobics, swimming, running, Pilates, yoga, dancing, etc. A very easy exercise is called the “buttocks press.” All you have to do is contract and release the muscles in your buttocks, which can be done anywhere and anytime. This creates a stronger, more toned sphincter and reduces the risk of bleeding hemorrhoids.
You will want to avoid biking as this puts pressure on the rectal and anal areas. Weight training, as well, may place excess pressure on your lower back and exacerbate the condition.

There are other factors that can lead to this annoying and sometimes painful condition, that are out of your control, such as age and heredity. You can, however, do a lot to help reduce your risk and alleviate your pain by simply exercising. Start slowly, and soon you will see remarkable improvements.

Those who have bleeding hemorrhoids know that while it is not considered a “serious” medical condition, it can have a big impact on how you live your life. From missing important events because of flare-ups to foregoing your favorite hobbies, these inflamed veins and vessels can keep you from doing the things you love. But they don’t have to. If you know the causes, then you can take steps to avoid this condition or to treat it. One of the most effective – and easy – ways is to add physical activity to your day.

We hear all the time about the importance of maintaining a healthy weight, and it is especially important in preventing and treating this condition. Extra weight causes extra pressure to be exerted on the anal, rectal, and pelvic veins when sitting, standing, or using the bathroom. Many of us spend eight to ten hours seated at work, not counting commuting time. While necessary for our jobs, this can be very hard on the body. Here are some easy ways to incorporate exercise into your days so you can prevent inflamed and irritated veins:

Get up and move every hour. It can be easy to lose yourself in the computer or paperwork, but make the effort to get up and get your blood circulating. This can be as easy as walking to refill your water bottle or getting a cup of tea. If you have to deliver a message to a coworker, walk to their office or desk instead of sending an email. It’ll take only a moment, and it’ll save a lot of irritation in the long run.

Walk or jog during your lunch hour. If you have a whole hour, there is plenty of time to walk and clean up for work. If you only have 20-30 minutes, take a brisk walk. It is still beneficial if you exert yourself.

Take the stairs at work and park a bit further away.

Do buttock presses and/or Kegels while you are working. Simply relax and contract your buttock muscles several times throughout the day. Kegels involve tensing the vaginal and anal muscles and holding for about ten seconds. Release and repeat.

These are great steps to take, but they don’t replace the need for longer workouts. Carve out time each day – at least thirty minutes five days a week – for exercise. Walking, yoga, swimming, and other aerobic activities are great. Many of the causes of bleeding hemorrhoids are within our control. It is important to always take the condition seriously and take steps to treat it so you don’t have to miss out on the things you love.

After learning of the variety of natural hemorrhoid treatment options, many people are chagrined that they didn’t take steps to relieve their symptoms sooner. Why live in discomfort or pain? Why suffer with itching and burning? There is no need when there are a host of effective and simple remedies available, many of which may already be in your cabinets at home. Relieve pain and irritation without costly drugs or invasive therapies. It is much easier that you think.

There are times when you just can’t take the pain, the itching, the burning. What do you do? Fortunately, there are quite a few alternatives that you can try. Chamomile tea is not just for drinking: it is helpful in soothing swollen veins. Brew some strong tea and soak a cotton pad in it. When cool, apply to the veins and leave on for several minutes. The chamomile shrinks blood vessels and helps reduce pain. Apple cider vinegar works very much like this. Apply it directly to the affected veins, and it works to shrink them, reduce inflammation and pain, and relieve itching.

Juices from cherries, blackberries, blueberries, and red and black currants are beneficial in relieving the pain of inflamed veins. These berries, in addition to containing fiber, also have anthocyanins and proanthocyanidins, which help tone veins in the rectal and anal areas. Drinking a glass a day will help reduce swelling and inflammation. If you experience bleeding, adding dark green vegetables, flax seeds, lima and butter beans, and alfalfa will help add necessary nutrients to your body, which will strengthen and tone your muscles and veins.

Water is another necessary component of preventing and treating hemorrhoids. Hydrating your body prevents constipation, which leads to inflamed veins. Don’t let yourself get thirsty because at that point, you are already dehydrated. Instead, sip water regularly throughout the day. Increase intake more on hot days or before, during, and after exercise. Try to avoid excessive salt, caffeine, and alcohol as these dehydrate the body.

Remember, too, that stress can cause hemorrhoids to flare-up and symptoms to worsen. Take steps to relieve stress; exercise is a great one because it has great health benefits and will help reduce excess pressure on your veins. While it may not provide immediate relief, it is an effective way to manage the condition in the long-term. There are a variety of good alternatives to costly drugs and medications, and they work well for the majority of sufferers so they’re no longer suffering.

If there is any plus side to having hemorrhoids, it is that there are a host of effective options to relieve pain, irritation, itching, and other annoying symptoms. Even better, most people respond very well to home therapies and do not need any further medical intervention. Caring for the body without costly drugs or artificial products is important to many people, and fortunately, there are great remedies for swollen, inflamed, or painful veins that are simple, inexpensive, and chemical-free.

There is really not a cure for this condition, per se, but there is much you can do to relieve irritation and to keep them from recurring. The goal is to address the symptoms. Here are several ways you can do with:

Witch hazel. This liquid is easily found in drug stores, and you can also find ointments, creams, and medicated pads that contain the astringent. Witch hazel is applied topically and can help relieve itching, swelling, and pain. Soak a cotton pad with witch hazel and apply it to the affected area.

Fiber. This can help both prevent the condition and relieve its symptoms. Fiber helps maintain regular stools and can soften them as well. Studies have shown that those with this condition found relief from discomfort, pain, and itching simply by adding more fiber to their diets.

Bioflavonoids. These come from citrus fruits and some plants and work to strengthen blood vessel walls. You may find relief from pain, discomfort, inflammation, and anal discharge. There are different types of bioflavonoids, and some can interact with prescription medication. Women taking tamoxifen for breast cancer, for example, shouldn’t take the flavonoid tangeretin. It is a good idea to talk to your doctor first.

Aloe vera. This is an extract from the aloe plant and is helpful in reducing itching and burning. Apply topically for symptom relief.

Chamomile. This common ingredient in tea can be used as a topical remedy. Soak a cotton pad or ball with chamomile and apply to the affected area to relieve burning, itching, and discomfort.

Ice. Simply applying an ice pack will relieve many symptoms. Wrap the ice pack in a hand towel first.

Bathe several times a day. This can help keep the area clean and reduce discomfort. Baths and showers are effective, as are sitz baths. These are basins that fit over the toilet seat. Fill with water and relax for 15 – 20 minutes.

The vast majority of people find natural hemorrhoid treatment options to be effective and more than sufficient to care for their symptoms.

Why should you pursue natural hemorrhoid treatment options? When you are dealing with this irritating, and sometimes painful, condition, you want relief fast. You want something that can take away the itching, the burning, and the swelling. Do you also want something that is natural? Relief doesn’t always have to come with chemicals: there are effective alternative therapies that you can pursue to feel better fast – and to reduce your risk of having further episodes and flare-ups.

Herbal or holistic remedies have become a more routine alternative for many people as they search for healing. It is no different with those who suffer from hemorrhoids. But why? What are the benefits? For one, herbal and natural remedies are gentle on your body. While herbs are not 100 percent free of side effects, they are generally very safe. Make sure to check with your doctor to ensure that they won’t interfere with your other medication or adversely affect an existing condition. For most people, however, they are perfectly safe and beneficial.

Alternative remedies are much less expensive than prescription or even over-the-counter drugs. For instance, compare a leading brand of relief cream with a bottle of liquid witch hazel extract, both of which can be found at any drug store. A small tube of cream costs as much as five times as a bottle of witch hazel. While both may be effective, the witch hazel is certainly more cost effective. You can soak cotton pads in it for instant relief, moisten your toilet paper, or use it for any number of purposes, including treating bruises, swimmers’ ear, laryngitis, and stomach flu.

Another advantage of alternative therapies is that they are easy to incorporate into your everyday life. You don’t need to drastically change your life, and the changes you do make are ones that will benefit you in many ways. For instance, adding fiber from healthy foods will also help you lose weight or maintain your healthy weight, have more energy, and improve your cardiovascular health. Exercise is also something that helps both the specific condition and the overall health of your body.

This also means that you don’t have to spend all day every day thinking about your condition. It no longer has to consume you because you know that safe and effective treatment is near at hand. Get started with these home remedies today, and you will be amazed at how much better you feel.

Only a very small fraction of those with this problem seek medical help: this is partly because many can effectively treat it themselves, but not asking your doctor for help also indicates that many people are just too embarrassed to talk about the condition. No one wants to discuss their bathroom habits, even with a trained professional.

However, knowing what you can do to mitigate your risks or treat the condition will help you find lasting relief. So, put your embarrassment aside and find out what you can do.
While it certainly doesn’t make for pleasant conversation, bathroom habits are a big factor in reducing your risk and reducing irritation. Bleeding occurs when the skin, veins, or vessels are extremely irritated. This can happen when you wipe too vigorously after a bowel movement or when you use a toilet tissue that is too rough. You can do a few things to avoid this: use a softer toilet paper; moisten your toilet paper with water or witch hazel; or use a flushable wipe. These options help you keep the area clean as well as soothing the inflamed skin and veins.

One of the other very common causes of bleeding hemorrhoids is excessive strain during bowel movements. Not eating enough fiber or drinking enough water tends to result in stools that are too hard. When you strain, it irritates and inflames the veins. A simple remedy is to incorporate more fiber into your diet. People who are overweight may also strain more because they have bigger abdominal cavities. You can reduce this risk by exercising regularly, eating well, and losing weight. Sitting on the toilet for extended periods of time places a great deal of pressure on the anal veins, which can result in inflammation. If this is due to constipation, more fiber will help.

Bathing several times a day is a great way to relieve pain and irritation. Make sure to use an unscented, dye-free soap. After you’ve cleansed the area, gently blot dry with a cotton towel. It is a good idea to wear cotton undergarments whether you are dealing with the condition currently or hoping to prevent it. Cotton will keep the area clean and dry, causing much less irritation.

Bleeding hemorrhoids can cause pain, but it should not cause embarrassment. It is very common, and fortunately, a few easy changes are very effective in both reducing your risk and treating your symptoms.

Alternative medicine isn’t so alternative anymore: many people want to treat their medical conditions without expensive drugs and artificial products. Even if a product is an herb or labeled as “natural,” however, it can still interact with your prescription drugs, so make sure to speak to your doctor before you choose an herbal remedy. The good news for people who want to pursue alternative therapies is that there are many good ones from which to choose.

The goal of natural hemorrhoid treatment is twofold: to relieve symptoms and to keep them from flaring up in the future. A great way to do this is with herbal treatments. The following are traditional herbal remedies that you may find effective:

Yarrow. Yarrow is distinguished by its beautiful little white flowers and is native to the northern hemisphere. It is used to treat wounds, including inflamed veins that have begun to bleed. You can find yarrow in capsules, extracts, and tinctures.

St. John’s Wort. A traditional folk remedy for depression, St. John’s Wort also is useful in reducing inflammation and irritation. Apply directly to the affected area for relief.

Goldenrod. This weed, when applied topically, can help reduce swelling and provide immediate pain relief.

Grape seed. This herb, which is available in an extract at natural health food stores, helps reduce inflammation.

Gotu kola. This is an Indian herb that has been shown to improve vein health and increase blood flow. When combined with gingko, it is extremely effective in improving circulation, which is important for healing affected veins.

Butcher’s broom. This is more well-known in Europe, but you can still find it in natural health food stores. French, German, and Italian researchers have found that this herb helps blood flow more freely in the legs, decreases inflammation, and tones veins.

Depending on the herb, you can either take them orally, drink it in a tea or tincture, or apply directly to the hemorrhoids. Before starting on any home remedy course, make sure to consult your doctor. Herbs are natural, but that doesn’t always mean they are 100% free of side effects. They can interact with prescription drugs or worsen certain existing conditions. It is important to make sure you will only benefit from these herbal therapies. Read all instructions carefully and take exactly as recommended. Herbal remedies can be extremely effective in relieving pain and inflammation in a natural way.

Hemorrhoids can be a source of embarrassment for many who suffer from them. They put off treating them or seeing a doctor because they are either too timid to discuss the condition or because they fear painful therapies. Don’t be among the millions who suffer in silence. When you notice the tell-tale symptoms, make sure to speak with your doctor and begin to make simple, yet effective, changes to your everyday life that will relieve pain, discomfort, itching, and other symptoms. One of the best things you can do is to harness the incredible power of water.

Water has a great many uses when it comes to this condition, making it an extremely effective and natural hemorrhoid treatment. The first way in which it is useful is as a beverage. Our bodies need water to replenish energy and keep organs, veins, and muscles working properly. We also need hydration in order to prevent constipation, a leading cause of swollen and inflamed veins in the anal region. Drinking plenty of water throughout the day is important so our stools are not too hard and will not result in excessive straining. And remember, alcoholic, sugary, and caffeinated beverages do not properly hydrate the body, so don’t substitute these for good, plain water.

Few things are as soothing to those suffering from itching, burning, and irritation as warm water. It is recommended that you sit in a bath of warm water frequently throughout the day to relieve symptoms and reduce swelling. If it is not practical or possible for you to run a bath every few hours, try a sitz bath. These are simple basins that fit over the toilet. You fill them with water and sit for 15-20 minutes. This is great for pregnant and postpartum women, as well as those who cannot easily get into or out of a bathtub. Another option is to shower in warm water throughout the day. You will clean the area, as well as soothe it.

Irritated veins can be further inflamed or even caused to bleed by rough toilet paper. Moistening your toilet paper with water helps prevent this by making it much gentler on the affected area. A flushable wipe may also be used, but water may be a more convenient option for many.

Finally, water in its frozen form is a great way to relieve pain, discomfort, itching, and burning. Fill a plastic bag halfway with ice cubes and wrap in a thin dishtowel. Sit on this icy bundle for immediate relief. Do this as often throughout the day as you can/need. It numbs the area and helps reduce swelling in the veins, which relieves pain.

Water is such a simple element, and yet it can be so powerful in treating your symptoms. As far from painful or invasive as you can get, water is effective in managing pain and discomfort, as well as helping prevent future flare-ups.

When you are diagnosed with any medical condition, whether serious or just annoying, there are typically two questions you ask: why do I have this condition, and what can I do about it? Knowing the answer to the first will help you figure out the answer to the second. It is always important to know what is happening with your body so you can take more control over your health and your quality of life, and understanding the causes of bleeding hemorrhoids is little different.

This is a very common condition, and though it will not have a serious negative impact on your health, it can keep you from doing the things in life that you enjoy. The good news is that knowing the factors that play a role in the development of this condition will help you take both preventative and therapeutic measures so you can get back in the action. While some factors, like heredity and age, are out of your hands, you can take proactive steps to minimize the other risks. One of the most common factors in bleeding hemorrhoids is diet. Not having enough fiber in your diet can result in hard stools. This, in turn, leads to straining during bowel movements. This creates more pressure on the affected vessels and veins and can result in minor blood loss.

A very simple, yet very effective, preventative and/or therapeutic measure is to incorporate more foods with fiber into your diet. This is relatively easy to do as there is a wide range: lentils, barley, and other dried beans, whole grain rice, pasta, breads, and cereals, pistachios, artichokes, apples, berries, pears, broccoli, carrots, tomatoes, and for a light dessert treat, unbuttered, unsalted popcorn. If you find that you are irregular or that your stool is too firm, then using a supplement may also be appropriate. Psyllium husk and flaxseed are packed with fiber – don’t forget to take them with plenty of water.
Using too much salt, alcohol, or caffeinated beverages is also linked to this condition, and excessive use can result in worsening symptoms. Your body becomes dehydrated, and stools become harder. To avoid this, drink plenty of water and try to cut out the salt, alcohol, and caffeine in favor of more fiber-rich choices.

There are many factors behind this problem, but the important thing to remember is that you can take many steps to both lessen your risk and treat the condition safely and effectively. Diet is extremely important, and fortunately, it is easy to make good choices that will positively impact your health.

Are piles getting in the way of your life? Do you have to decline invitations or cancel events because you’re afraid of the discomfort or pain? Are you skipping your hobbies because your symptoms are flaring up? This condition shouldn’t interfere with your life, and neither should caring for your symptoms. There are many effective and easy home remedies that you can pursue when you need relief. But how do you know what to look for, and how do you know it will be safe for you?

The first thing to do when looking for a natural hemorrhoid treatment is to see your doctor. Express your interest in finding an alternative, drug-free way to treat your condition. This is important because even all-natural products can interfere with your regular medication or affect other preexisting conditions. Once you get the go-ahead, your doctor can even provide some suggestions for which particular herbs or remedies will be most effective for you.

Next, look at the list of ingredients. You should see some of the following: horse chestnut, vitamin E, zinc oxide, L-Arginine, oat straw, cayenne, butcher’s broom, plantain, grape seed extract, chamomile, cranesbill, psyllim, bromelein, and pilewort. These all have been traditionally used to soothe, cool, reduce inflammation, or strengthen veins. Look for products that are as natural as possible with the least amount of artificial ingredients. You can even purchase essential oils of the herbs listed above and make your own tinctures.

Decide what your treatment objective is. Are you looking for fast, instant relief from hemorrhoids or for longer-term vein health? There are products that are geared towards each of these goals. Fast acting products will have cooling agents, such as chamomile, witch hazel, or aloe to soothe or reduce swelling. Those that are designed to attack the problem of swollen and inflamed veins at its root will have ingredients that serve to strengthen and tone vein walls, such as Japanese pagoda tree extract, plantain, bromelein, and pilewort.

Finally, choose a remedy that will fit with your life and schedule. It is great to plan on sitting in warm baths five times a day for relief or take three drops of a certain tincture three times a day everyday, but if that just isn’t possible, you will need to find something that works for you. It may be easier to apply a topical ointment in the morning or drink one cup of herbal remedy before going to bed. You can find an effective, and natural, product that will help relieve your symptoms and prevent future flare-ups. Be choosy and do a bit of research before selecting a product, and you should see results right away.
