There is nothing to be embarrassed about if you discover you have been suffering from bleeding hemorrhoids. It happens to a lot of people from all walks of life. If you have not yet talked to a doctor or sought out medication, then perhaps you are looking to try home treatment first. There is nothing wrong with this route, as many people have dealt with, and gotten rid of, their issue without ever speaking with a physician. In fact, the problem will often resolve itself without any intervention at all. If yours is a bit more persistent, here are a few tips on how to handle the situation.
For the most part, at home bleeding hemorrhoid treatment involves doing things to keep them from getting worse. With healthy bowel habits, such as eating fiber, drinking plenty of water, using the bathroom the moment you feel the urge, and not straining as you do so, you can keep your current problem down to a minimum. From there you can focus more on soothing the area and helping it to go away.
While you may feel pain and itching, try to avoid rubbing the area. Yes, toilet paper means wiping, but instead, blot the area gently and use a soft towel or cloth. Make sure it is absorbent in order to remove any wetness. You could also perform a quick rinse in the shower or, if you have one, use a bidet. Again, pat dry. If none of these ideas work for you, and toilet paper is your only route, first moisten it with water or a cleansing agent. You could also use baby wipes, as they are meant to be used on tender skin. If no baby wipes are available, you could try other premoistened towels.
When you are in the shower, avoid the use of soap that contains perfumes or dyes as these may only serve to further aggravate the area. Again, avoid rubbing the area so be careful when washing around the anus.
In order to help relieve pain and itching, you can fill up a bathtub with warm water and sit in it a few times a day. Make sure the water is at a comfortably warm temperature and not too hot. Soak in the tub for about 15 minutes. This can be especially helpful if you do it right after you have had a bowel movement. The warm water will help soothe and relax the area.
Bleeding hemorrhoid treatment at home does not have to be unpleasant or involve creams after awkward trips to the drugstore. Just take a few minutes each day to give your body a little TLC and you will be back to yourself in no time!
