I Think Have Hemorrhoids – How Did This Happen?

At this very moment, a big percentage of the population is currently dealing with bleeding hemorrhoids.  Rest assured that if you believe you have them, someone else does too.

Before doing anything, you can check to see if you really do have a problem.  Take a closer look at your diet.  Have you been eating foods that do not include a lot of fiber?  How often do you exercise, if at all?  Do you drink plenty of liquids, water especially?  When you do go to the bathroom for a bowel movement, do you allow most of it to occur naturally or do you try to rush through it and place extra pressure on the area?  These are some of the most common reasons people develop a bleeding hemorrhoid or two.

Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is key to maintaining a healthy body.  Instead of sitting down and eating candy as a snack, opt for veggie chips and some dip instead.  It’s hard to transition directly from something as delicious as ice cream to something as unexciting as raw broccoli, but there’s no need to make any drastic changes.  Start small.  Include more vegetables into your dinners.  Add fresh fruits to your breakfast or lunch.  Drink more water during the day, even when you’re not thirsty (in fact, when you’re thirsty, your body is telling you that you are already on your way to becoming dehydrated).  Adding foods higher in fiber can help soften stools so that there is less stress on the body when you use the bathroom.

Rushing through a bowel movement in the bathroom adds extra stress as well.  A little extra push here and there is all right, but if you’re sitting there, fists clenched, face red, breath held, then you need some serious revamping of your bathroom habits.  If you don’t have to go, then don’t.  Why force out something that isn’t there?  You’re only putting unnecessary stress on places that don’t need it.  Bleeding hemorrhoids are engorged blood vessels and by pushing too hard, you’re only forcing extra blood into the area and stretching the blood vessel to an uncomfortable degree.  Relax, let nature take its course, and only go when your body tells you it’s necessary.

Being overweight or, if you are a woman, pregnant, can also act as the source of inflamed tissue.  Naturally, losing the weight will relieve the pressure and help prevent problems from surfacing in the future.  Things are a bit different when you are pregnant.  Look into potential home treatments in order to deal with the symptoms, and try laying on your side or stomach during sleep.

Often it’s a simple decision to improve your quality of life that can lead to a healthier you.  If the problem refuses to go away, you can always ask your doctor for more options.
