There are many factors that can contribute to the development of irritating bleeding hemorrhoids. Everything from food to exercise to bathroom habits can determine whether or not your body will respond negatively. After all, your body will react depending upon how you treat it. Looking toward prevention tips will keep you healthy and happy. While most people develop a problem some time in their life, if you stay on task, you may not be one of them.
Too much pressure on the veins in and around the anus is the cause of a bleeding hemorrhoid problem. Nine times out of ten it is because of a person’s lifestyle. Constipation is a one of the big reasons behind problems. Figuring out ways around constipation can keep you free and clear. Unless a different illness or certain prescription medications are the cause behind constipation, it’s actually quite easy to avoid it altogether.
Simply put, constipation is difficulty passing stool. Often stool will be dry or hard. Frequency of movements can also clue you in on constipation. There is no hard and fast rule as to how often a person should be using the bathroom. Some people may have movements several times a day, whereas other may only have them several times a week. However, on average if you have two or fewer trips to the bathroom to pass stools, then you likely have a problem.
Straining is often an issue with constipation and also the main reason veins in the anus can become problematic. Because you have such a hard time with bowel movements, you may try to push out the waste yourself, but often this will do no good or you will still have the feeling of full or semi-full bowels after using the bathroom.
So how do you prevent constipation? Often the easiest way is to control your diet or simply add in fiber-rich foods like leafy vegetables, fresh fruit, and whole-grain cereals or breads. Contrary to what a lot of advertisements tell you, there is no real need to purchase a product with added fiber as many natural foods are rich in fiber. Fiber softens stools and makes them easier to manage. Drink plenty of water as well and start exercising, even if it is something small such as taking a brief walk each day.
If you do not have bleeding hemorrhoids (as this may make them worse), you can take a stool softener that can be purchased at any drugstore. There are also synthetic fibers that you can add to a drink or foods if you do not feel you are eating fiber-rich foods (though a little extra research will yield plenty of possibilities).
By keeping your bowel movements healthy and regular, you can remain hemorrhoid free!
